Who Is the coolest guy on the planet ? Michael Hart

coolest guy on the planet

Am I the coolest guy on the planet?

What is this coolest guy on the planet stuff about?

You could say my interest in being the coolest guy on the planet began when I read articles that B r a d F a l l o n wrote about being the coolest guy on the planet. I created The2ndcoolestguyontheplanet.com in 2007 to see if that could rank, but then I didn't attempt to generate any link building whatsoever. Now I've decided to start back again toying around with SEO (Search Engine Optimization). I have gotten a one page website to rank everytime for "data entry reviews" with little to no links and a PR of 5 at the time. Then I read about Mr. Ledger site and realized I didn't try hard enough. So the game begins. Do you want to be the coolest guy on the planet ?

SEO is not as difficult as you may think. However, if you are the impatient type of person that gives up after 10 minutes of trying, then SEO may not be for you.

So where do you start? Well you should know what Google wants you to do since its their search engine you want to rank in.Google gives in its Webmaster Guidelines, you can rank a site for a keyword phrase using 100% "white hat" methods. Trust me, you don't want to use any black hat methods. Sure you may suddenly rank at the top of the game, but Google was not founded by morons. These guys get so annoyed by people trying to cheat their system. Google's USP (unique selling product) or idea is relevancy. They provide relevant data to what you search for far better than any other search engine. And rightfully so; they should. Google always seems to be one step ahead of the game.

In the pages below you will see outlined the methods I am using, and the progress I am making in implementing each of the steps from Google's guidelines.

The Steps To Being The Coolest Guy On The Planet

The steps that I will focus on in trying to attain the top position for coolest guy on the planet at Google are the five steps listed under "When your site is ready" in Google's Webmaster Guidelines.

I am following their design guidelines as well, but since I'm mostly focused on linking methods here, I'm not going to discuss those in detail.

  1. Have other relevant sites link to yours
  2. Submit the site to Google
  3. Submit a sitemap to Google
  4. Tell related sites about your site
  5. Submit your site to the right directories
Each of those links goes to a page that expands on how I am working to achieve what Google says I should be doing to rank well. None of the methods are shifty or questionable. I am going 100% "white hat" on this site.

Miscellaneous

One last point I want to make is that Google loves content, so I am making sure that every page has at least five hundred or more words of actual content on the page, with the only exception being the progress report page.

Also, I am not using any particular fonts, stylesheets or WEB 2.0 methods of making the site look great. It is just your basic informational site. This should reiterate to you don't have know CSS, Flash, DHTML, or other detailed web languages to have your site rank well. Actually trying to make your site too glorious in appearance often works against you. ie Flash does not index well with the SERPs. (Search Engine Ranking Pages) The search engines still love simple links, headings, title text, and related content.

The Coolest Guy On The Planet Progress

As I make progress, I will update my progress report page (which will ultimately have a lot more than five hundred words, but not initially). So watch that page for changes, etc. It is a timeline of everything I have done here.
